The Sherman M4A2 "Corse" is the original tank from the 12th RCA of the 2nd French Armored Division. During an inspection in February 1944, the General Leclerc noticed that the Corse island was painted at the bottom of the painted 2nd French Armored Division insigna. He asked it to be removed, but it stayed until the end of the war. This Sherman was used at the ESAM of Bourges after World War II as a test bed for various modernizations. The tank was fitted with a Sturmgeschütz mantlet and a 75mm CN 75-50 gun (which equipped the AMX-13). These modifications were part of the development of the Israeli M50 Super Sherman. The 75mm CN 75-50 experimental gun and the StuG mantled were removed and a vintage WWII 75mm gun and mantlet were replaced during the restoration of this tank.
Le sherman M4A2 "Corse" est le char original du 12ème Régiment de Chasseurs d'Afrique de la 2ème DB. Lors d'une inspection en février 1944, le Général Leclerc remarqua que la Corse était peinte sous l'insigne de la 2ème DB. Il demanda au chef de char de la retirer, mais elle devait rester jusqu'à la fin de la guerre. Ce char fut utilisé à l'ESAM de Bourges après la 2ème guerre comme support d'expérimentation et fut modernisé, notamment avec un masque de canon de Sturmgeschütz et un canon de 75mm CN 75-50 (qui équipait les AMX-13). Ces modifications faisaient partie du développement du char israélien M50 Super Sherman. Le canon de 75mm CN 75-50 expérimental et le masque de canon de StuG furent retirés et un ensemble canon de 75mm/masque de la deuxième guerre mondiale a été remis lors de la restauration du char.
